Répartition hors de France : Europe méridionale et centrale, jusqu'en Scandinavie.

A rather robust annual 8-38 cm tall with few or numerous long, slender branches.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) It occurs in meadows and pastures and is common and widespread throughout the British Isles except central and S. England.

Fleurs : ; grappe s'allongeant beaucoup; calice de 5 mm, non accrescent, glabre ou glabrescent; corolle de 7-10 mm, peu accrescente, d'un violet pâle [FlorMed-> blanche à lilas] strié de bleu, à lèvre inférieure tachée de jaune, la supérieure à lobes denticulés
Floraison France : Juin-octobre.
Flowers: 6-9 mm long in a rather long and interrupted inflorescence, calyx teeth triangular, subulate; corolla lilac or white and lilac, upper lip with denticulate or emarginate lobes much shorter than lower; lower with deeply emarginate lobes, the central one larger than the two lateral.
