Leaves not compartmented, tubular
A small perennial, tufted when growing on land and with long flaccid stems if growing in running water, the flowering stems normally erect or diffuse and 2-25 cm high, growing from a somewhat swollen base.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) It is abundant throughout the British Isles in bogs, moist heaths and bare places on acid soils.
